lily leaf beetle survey 2021
It has been 20 years since the first biological control agent, the parasitic wasp Tetrastichus setifer, was released in the US, and 10 years since T. setifer was released in Canada. Two other agents, Lemophagus errabundus and Diaparsis jucunda have also been released in the US. Since then, lily leaf beetle populations have declined in many areas. In fact, at the original release sites in both the US and Canada, lily leaf beetles are now very hard to find.
It is important for us to continue to monitor the success and spread of the biocontrol agents, but because of the large geographic range of the lily beetle, coupled with covid-19 travel restrictions, we will need your help...
